Embassy organises an interaction programme
on "Promoting Nepal in China"
The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing held an interaction programme
on “Promoting Nepal in China” today. The programme was attended
by the officials from the Tourism Bureau of China, Beijing based travel
and tour operators, including representatives from Nepal Airlines, China
Southern, Air China, Dragon Air, Korean Air, and Thai Air. Representatives
from local media and reporters also attended the programme. It was organized
in collaboration with the Country Representative of Nepal Tourism Board
in China. The objective of the programme was to develop working relations
with the participants and explore the opportunities of promoting tourism
market in China.
Addressing the programme His Excellency Mr. Tanka Prasad
Karki, Ambassador of Nepal, highlighted the long cherished historical relations
between Nepal and China and underscored the need for collaborative efforts
between the Nepal Tourism Board, different Travel and Tour operators, Airlines
operators and Medias in order to promote Nepal in China. He also stressed
the need for disseminating information about Nepal to the potentials Chinese
travelers. He asked the travel and tour operators both of Nepal and China
to develop new packages suitable to the Chinese visitors. Mr. Ambassador
also urged the Chinese potential investors to invest in the tourism sectors
in Nepal and get the benefits of open market and friendly investment policy
of Nepal.
Mr. Li Chang Shun, Air China Outbound Market Manager, addressed
the programme and spoke about the air connectivity and growing air market
with Nepal. He also gave an update account of Air China’s increased
business with Nepal and stressed the long-term relationship that is being
established between both countries. On behalf of the Country Representative
of Nepal Tourism Board, Ms. Betty presented the activities conducted by
Nepal Tourism Board in view of promoting Nepal in China.
Mr. Rajaram Bartaula, First Secretary of the Embassy, presented
a slide show to brief about the enormous potential of Nepalese tourism in
China. He presented the multi dimensional attraction of the country including
the alluring natural beauties and tourist attractions varying from adventure
to culture tourism. Mr. KM Dangol, Manager (China) of the Nepal Airlines
in Shanghai, informed that the RA flights that had been suspended for the
last 14 months are going to resume on 16 September 2008.
Mr. Nirmal Kafle, Counsellor at the Embassy, while welcoming
the guests, expressed that tourism could be one of the finer instruments
to link people to people level contacts. Col. Rajendra Bahadur Karki, Military
Attache of the Embassy, extended a vote of thanks to all the participants
and urged all sides to make the Chinese dream of visiting the birth place
of Buddha a grand success, towards further strengthening the ties between
China and Nepal. The programme was followed by a Luncheon.
