The Right Hon'ble Prime Minister concludes his visit to China
On completion of four days visit of the People’s
Republic of China Rt. Hon. Puspa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda", Prime
Minister of Nepal left Beijing for Bangkok by Thai Airline’s flight
No. 615 at 17:35 hrs. today. The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister was bidden
farewell by Her Excellency Mrs. Wu Ai Ying, Minister for Justice of the
Government of the People’s Republic of China.
His Excellency Mr. Tanka Prasad Karki, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s
Republic of China, Embassy Officials and Senior Officials of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the People’s Republic of China
were also present at the airport to see off the Prime Minister.
In the morning today, the Prime Minister visited the Great Wall of China
at Badaling section. Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister will be arriving Kathmandu
tomorrow.

Rt. Hon. Puspa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda", Prime Minister of Nepal,
attended a reception hosted by His Excellency Tanka Prasad Karki, Ambassador
of Nepal to People's Republic of China, in his honour today evening at the
Embassy.
The Ambassador of Nepal, while welcoming the delegation and guests, said
that the current visit of the Prime Minister has epitomized our strong solidarity
with China on its historic hosting of the Olympic Games.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister appreciated the excellent organization
of the Olympic Games, and congratulated China and its people for the grand
success of the Olympics. The Prime Minister expressed his hope that this
visit will significantly help in cementing our bilateral relations. He highlighted
the priorities of the Government, namely, the drafting of a new constitution,
bringing the peace process to a logical conclusion and socio-economic development
of Nepal. In this connection, he expressed the importance of the continued
cooperation from the international community.
The reception was attended by Mrs Sita Dahal, wife of the Prime Minister,
Hon. Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Minister for Information and Communications,
Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister,
Officiating Chief Secretary Mr. Madhav Paudel, Foreign Secretary Mr. Gyan
Chandra Acharya, Sports Secretary Mr. Shankar Prasad Pandey and other members
of the delegation. A large number of Nepalese community including students
were also present on the occasion.
From the Chinese side, Vice Foreign Minister Mr. He Yafei, President of
China Institute of International Studies, Vice President of the Chinese
People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Professor Wang,
Former Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Mr. Li De Biao and other high ranking
dignitaries were present.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the Non-Resident Nepalese living in Guangzhou, Mr.
Krishna Silwal, Representative of NRN China Chapter presented a sum of RMB
33,919/- (thirty three thousand nine hundred nineteen) to the Prime Minister
Disaster Relief Fund. Similarly, Nepalese students studying in Beijing also
handedover a sum of RMB 2,170/- (two thousand one hundred seventy) for the
flood victims in Sunsari District.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister, his wife Mrs Dahal, the Minister for
Information and Communications and the Prime Minister's Principal Private
Secretary attended a luncheon hosted in their honour by the Central Committee
of the Communist Party of China.
In the morning, the members of the high level delegation also visited the
Mausoleum of late Chairman Mao Zedong to pay homage. The Prime Minister
and delegation members also visit today the White Pagoda (Bai Ta Si), built
by famous Nepali architect Arniko, the Forbidden City, and the Botanical
Garden.

The Prime Minister of Nepal Rt. Hon. Puspa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda"
paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Hu Jintao, President of the People's
Republic of China today at the Diao Yu Tai State Guest House in Beijing.
The President warmly received the Prime Minister of Nepal and expressed
his happiness to welcome the first Prime Minister of a republic Nepal to
participate in the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics 2008 immediately
following his elections to the post of Prime Minister. He expressed that
this visit has rightly reflected the importance of our centuries-old relationship.
The Prime Minister of Nepal thanked the President for receiving
him despite his busy schedule. The Prime Minister congratulated the President
for successfully hosting the Beijing Olympic Games in a spectacular manner.
He said that the grand success of the Beijing Olympics has opened a new
chapter in the Olympics history.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also briefed him about the current
political situation of Nepal and the Government of Nepal's priorities, namely,
bringing the peace process to a logical conclusion, socio-economic development
and the drafting of a new constitution. Reassuring the President about Nepal's
principled stand of the One-China policy, the Prime Minister expressed his
commitment that the Government of Nepal will not allow any anti-China activities
in Nepal.
The Prime Minister looked forward to the continuation of
the Chinese cooperation in view of the changed context in Nepal and to meet
the growing expectation of the people. In this connection, he urged the
Chinese side to take significant measures in order to expand the connectivity
between the two countries and promote trade, investment and tourism. This
will benefit the people of the entire region, he emphasized.
The President of China replied that Nepal China relationship
nurtured as good friends and partners, have been further enhanced with the
efforts of our visionary leaders. Our relations are time-tested and historic,
he said. Mr. Hu Jintao expressed his happiness over the peace process and
political developments in Nepal which have evolved as per the wish of the
Nepalese people, and hoped that it would consolidate peace, stability and
economic development in Nepal. Assuring the Prime Minister of China's continued
cooperation in various fields, he reiterated that China highly values the
neighbourly relationship which has a long historical background.
Earlier today, the Rt. Hon'ble Prime Minister had a meeting
with His Excellency Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the People's Republic of
China in Zhong Nan Hai, the Premier's Secretariat. During the meeting, the
two Prime Ministers discussed the broad spectrum of cooperation between
Nepal and China. Both the leaders expressed their respective Governments'
commitment to further enhance the bilateral relations and cooperation for
the mutual benefit of the people of both the countries.
The Premier of China said that ours is a model of relationship
between a big and a smaller neighbour based on mutual respect and equality.
He expressed the commitment of China to respect the Nepalese people's will
to choose the path of social system and development path. He hoped, with
the Prime Minister's innovative leadership and joint collaboration of all
political parties, Nepal would consolidate peace and achieve socio-economic
transformation. The Premier Wen Jiabo, also announced the financial assistance
of US dollars 300,000 to the recent victims of the floods in Eastern Nepal.
The Prime Minster of Nepal thanked the Premier for the generous assistance
to the floods victims.
Also present during the bilateral meetings were Hon. Krishna
Bahadur Mahara, Minister for Information and Communications, His Excellency
Mr. Tanka Prasad Karki, Ambassador of Nepal to People's Republic of China,
Mr Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister,
Officiating Chief Secretary Mr. Madhav Paudel, Foreign Secretary Mr. Gyan
Chandra Acharya and officials of the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing. From the
Chinese side, Foreign Minister, Commerce Minister and other high ranking
officials were present during the meetings.
The Prime Minister and the delegation visited the Olympic village and signed
on the peace wall. He was welcomed by the Mayor of the Olympic village,
who briefed him about the organisation and facilities of the Olympic Games.
He also met with members, athletes and coaches of the Nepalese sports delegation.
Earlier this afternoon, the Prime Minister and Mrs. Sita
Dahal, wife of the Prime Minister, participated in a State Banquet hosted
by the President of China in honour of the visiting Heads of the State and
Government in the Diao Yu Tai State Guest House. He is scheduled to attend
the closing ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games in the Bird's Nest, the National
Stadium, this evening.
